On March 16, Gou Zongde, Deputy General Manager of SIE met with Lorenzo Gonzo, Councillor for Science and  Technology at the Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing and Luigi Puca, Head of Italian Trade Commission Chengdu Office. The two sides exchanged views on building Sichuan-Italy exhibition cooperation platform and promoting economic and trade exchanges.

Gou Zongde gave a detailed introduction to SIE, WCIF and the cooperation situation with Italy and promoted the 19th WCIF and other major exhibitions and conferences held (organized) by SIE in 2022. Gou Zongde invited the Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing and Italian Trade Commission Chengdu Office to attend the 19th WCIF, as well as other important activities organized by SIE. SIE will give full play to its advantages of a platform to continue promoting pragmatic collaborations between the two sides in various fields to write a new “exhibition chapter” of cooperation.

At the meeting, Lorenzo Gonzo affirmed the important role of the Sichuan exhibition industry in promoting economic and trade cooperation. He expressed that since Italy served as the guest country of honor of the 17th WCIF in 2018, the exchanges and cooperation between Sichuan and Italy in various fields have been further deepened. It is hoped that through the exhibition platform, the cooperation potentials in trade, carbon peaking & carbon neutrality, clean energy, and fashion between the two sides can be deeply tapped.

Mr. Luigi Puca said that the exhibition cooperation between China and Italy has a solid foundation and broad prospects. Italian Trade Commission Chengdu Office will stay committed to promoting the economic and trade exchanges between Italy and Western China. It is hoped that the two sides will work together to further deepen Sichuan-Italian cooperation in economics, trade, investment and other fields.

Relevant personnel from the International Cooperation Department of SIE and Sichuan International Exhibition Co., Ltd. attended the meeting.
